Overnight Strawberry Oats Recipe
I went to Target last weekend with my boyfriend and told him I wanted to buy mason jars to go with my new Vitamix blender. I want to be able to bring smoothies to work to drink for breakfast or to have around after a workout. However the jars I wanted are only sold in packages of 12.
David: “We really need 12?”
Me: “Yes!” with a huge smile on my face.
Wanting to make use of my new mason jars, I decided to experiment and make overnight oats. When I went to the grocery store to buy my main ingredients, I saw the delicious strawberries on display. Right then I knew I had to make something with these yummy berries so I quickly searched the Internet and found a recipe from Buzzfeed’s overnight strawberry and oats recipes. I also added the vanilla and cinnamon since I love these two combined flavors.
½ cup of rolled oats
½ cup almond milk or coconut milk
½ cup low fat greek yogurt
1-2 tablespoons of honey (if you prefer sweeter go with 3)
1 tablespoon of chia seeds
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Dash of cinnamon
4 strawberries sliced
Combine all ingredients in a jar, mix, and store in a sealed container overnight. Delicious way to start out any work day. Bon appetit!
